to celebrate the overwhelmingly positive reception to my first album - "The Local Access Tapes - Vol. 1" - I've put together a collection of five instrumental songs that I created over the two years that I laid dormant when it came to my music production presence online. read through to gain some insight as to where these songs came from & more about my time growing as a musician these past 24+ months!
track 1, Highway Of Stairs, was a song that I had meant to include in the now scrapped "lonely hours"; an album full of lofi songs to be released on the "Twizzlestorm" alias that I have since deemed unfit for release. this song, however, was one that I (among a few of my close friends) found to be better than the rest - as such, it is now here for you to enjoy! the song's title is inspired by Japan's National Route 339 in Aomori Prefecture, where for a quarter of a mile, the highway turns into a staircase! I found the highway on my own while looking at the top of Honshu Island on Google Maps out of boredom, and found it really interesting :)
track 2, Terms And Conditions, carries the same sort of story as track 1, in that it was meant to be on "lonely hours" and was one of the better tracks from the scrapped project. the name on this one comes from my mother, where she suggested the name to me while filling out paperwork and subsequently having to agree to some terms and conditions document. I told her I'd keep the name, and it comes to fruition almost two years later on this EP!
track 3, Sickly, once again was meant to be included on "lonely hours", but the story behind this song is actually quite funny; I have no idea when or how I made this. there's no project file for it, not even in my backups, and I don't remember making it at all; one day it just showed up in the folder with the name Sickly (which, now that I think about it, may have been made when I was actually sick with a stomach flu, hence the name). nonetheless it was one of my favorites, so it appears here today.
track 4, behind_u, was meant to be featured on a project I had titled "twzzl beat tape 01" -- the first instance of my shortened alias "twzzl" ever coming to light. this, similar to "See You Soon" in my first album, is one of the many times where I've attempted making a hip-hop inspired instrumental, and I think it was a pretty good attempt at that!
track 5, i'll see you, is likely the oldest track on this list -- it was created for the EP originally planned to be released after my "RUIN*MY*LIFE" album, titled "uplift", which never saw completion and was scrapped for my work-in-progress "Yellow Noise". that being said, it carries a lot of EDM influence especially within the drums & bass, but is still chill enough (I think) to be released here!
